About Phonic Studios

Right in the heart of Dublin’s city centre, Phonic Studios is designed to create the perfect atmosphere for making great music. With natural light, comfortable surroundings, amazing gear and great engineer/producers, Phonic lets you concentrate on what’s important: the music.

The Space

Phonic Studios has 110 sq metres dedicated to giving you the service you need.

The control room is spacious and can accommodate 5 to 8 people easily and comfortably.  Genelec 8040 and NS10 or Dynaudio monitoring and acoustic treatment give the room a great sound for recording and mixing.

The live room is suitable for all sorts of recording and can be made “live” or “dead” to your requirements, thanks to a customised baffling system, and Auralex® treatment.  Vocals and drums sound great, and all sorts of instruments can be accommodated.

The signal path is everything in recording, and at Phonic, we have the very best, not only in mics, preamps, clocking and monitoring, but even in cables. Phonic Studios is Vovox® accredited, utilising the best cables in the business to guarantee a top quality signal.

If you need to get away from the music to clear your head, we are only 100m from O’Connell St and all that the city centre has to offer.

Equipment

The best of the analogue and digital worlds are at your disposal at Phonic Studios. Recording is based around an Apple Macintosh with Pro Tools HD fronting a Manley 8+8×2 custom analogue desk. Handbuilt in the USA, Manley gear has attained a reputation as being incredibly high quality, and it shows!

Lots of effects and instruments are at your disposal.  On the hardware front there is an array of mics, preamps, samplers, and synthesisers available to you.  There’s even an in-house drum kit and a huge range of percussion instruments. Producers

Here at Phonic, we can provide producers who can take your music to the highest level. Try things you never thought of, or you never thought were possible. Concentrate on being an artist rather than trying to do everything yourself. Use the perspective of experienced musical ears. Get the high quality product you want.

Conor Brady

Conor Brady has recorded and performed with many high-profile acts including the Corrs, Mary Coughlan, Paul Cleary, Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, the Commitments, Frances Black, Toots and the Maytals, & Terence Trent D’Arby, and is inarguably one of the most sought-after session guitar players in the country.

Conor’s earthy production style has earned him many plaudits, and as well as producing albums for Colm Quearney and Paul Cleary, he has recently completed an album for new concept-band Audiokiss, a country album for Ciara Sidine and rock albums for Von Shakes and The Kapitals.

Paul Byrne

Founder member of 1980s legends In Tua Nua, and current drummer for Shane MacGowan, Paul has worked with many of the best producers around, including Peter Walsh (Simple Minds), Ian Broudie (The Lightning Seeds), Don Dixon (REM) and Paul Fox (XTC/They Might Be Giants). Paul is credited with discovering Sinead O’Connor when she was 15.

Paul specialises in working with singer-songwriters and vocal production. Credits include Una Keane‘s “Saya Nova”, Jeannette Byrne‘s “Cafe Diva” and “Elegy” albums, and Rocky De Valera and the Gravediggers‘ “Sinne Fianna Fail Blues” and “Diceman” singles  and albums for Von Shakes and The Kapitals.
