In their own words….

‘Id Folk that’

From turntable to string theory (the Instrumental string, not those wacky Science ones) Rob, or Robert Patrick Walsh has taken many a road and has even had the pleasure of waking up ‘bent in the undergrowth’, of one or more of these roads. Ever the happy traveller for it!

Born in Dublin and Reared in the pleasant one horse coastal bypass of Portmarnock, Rob would have spent many an hour on the beach, just chilling out or listening to music daydreamin’ or having a swim. Pretty normal for anyone growing up by the sea. So on they grow and off they go, their childhood memories do remain. With Rob it’s slightly different. Rob is still that free spirited child on a beach somewhere! Only now he is the music maker and the dreamer of dreams.

Over the past decade Rob has been heavily involved in a number of musically creative ad-ventures. His early musical exploits took him to working with ‘Let loose Promotions’, who were heavily involved in the Dublin Electronic scene for a number of years ,with great success. Having played side by side with DJ’s such as Radioactive man, (one half of the two lone swordsmen) consisting of Keith Tennonswood & Andrew weatherhall, other artists include Vollem and Scan 1 to name but a few. His desire to play music has never faltered but only grown stronger. The only visible difference now is the transformation from turntables, drum Machines and synts, to some beautifully hand crafted Martins guitars that are accompanied on stage by various Harmonica’s combined with Lyrics that at times, will intentionally make you laugh and in contrast almost make you cry. Everything in between only shows promise and by no means is Rob a slouch when it comes to simultaneously pulling it together! With a guitar playing style and lyrical compatibility that I can only assume draws on the influences of people such as Stephen Still, Elliott Smith, Fionn Regan to keep things closer to home, and of course, the main man himself, Neil Young, to name a few.

Rob has been playing gigs throughout Dublin frequently for the past year and is currently clocking up as much Studio time as can be afforded in the hope of having an EP ready for release sometime this year so with a bit of good ol’ Irish luck that will come to fruition. Rob is also hoping to secure a slot at the Picnic this year so fingers crossed for him as i think we all agree, if your gonna grow at home, you might aswell grow them proper!
