In their own words….
Saccade are a four piece indie-pop rock band hailing from the northside of Dublin, Ireland. Having already enjoyed high profile support slots with bands such as The Coronas, Delorentos, The Flaws, Ham Sandwich, The Magic Numbers, Mundy and Duke Special over the last number of months, they have been steadily making a name for themselves on the live circuit up and down the country.
So the story goes…
After forming in 2006, the band spent their first year writing, rehearsing, recording, and gigging the live circuit in Dublin. Spring 2007 saw the release of their debut E.P ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’, with one of the tracks, ‘Wasting My Time’ reaching number 5 in the downloadmusic.ie chart. ‘Wastin’ My Time’ was also selected by an independent panel of industry experts to be included on the downloadmusic.ie USB album, launched in August 2008.
Saccade also featured on the TG4 TV show Deis Roc, getting as far as the semi finals, and impressing each of the judges, with Horslips member Jim Lockhart declaring them, “the best band in the competition”.
2008 seen the band complete their first cross country tour of Ireland, getting their music out to the public and receiving fantastic feedback from all the gig-goers.
Saccade feature on the CEOL09 CD alongside The Swell season, Duke Special and Cathy Davey, their song Useless/Oinseach was selected and the album reached the Irish top 10.
November 2009 seen Saccade release the track “Last Tango” which was played a number of times on 2FM, Spin FM, Phantom FM and a host of local radio stations up and down the country. This track also earned the band a nomination in the “Most promising act of 2009″ at the Meteor awards.
While in recording their debut album, Saccade released the second single “See How They Fly” from their forth coming album. With a number of shows around the country in support of the single, the band also made the grade and got invited to play the JD Set (which they have made the finals for) and the IMRO show case. To add to this a number of festival appearances have been secured as well as some tracks showing up in TV.
Now, with the album in the bag, the next 12 months are sure to be a hectic time in the world of Saccade.
