There comes a time when things change. That time is now. Change has been demanded politically, environmentally, consciously, and musically by the people. Hip Hop duo Kryptic has forged a path of change for the past three years through the building of a devoted grass roots presence across the world. The duo, consisting of female British MC, Kryptic, and American Producer/Musician Rome X set the stage for what is now one of music’s fastest growing trends: artists recording together from across the world without ever meeting, not to mention entering the studio together. Since 2006, Kryptic has done exactly this. One artist based in the UK, the other in the United States… and it worked. It took three years of this process before they actually met, and now their musical bond is stronger than ever. The Kryptic sound is best described as a perfect combination of new and old. The crisp and clear British accented rhymes are complimented by old school styled drum loops, break beats, analog synths, strings and live instrumentation. Kryptic was formed because the artists heard, and responded to the despair from the consumer who felt short-changed with the endless supply of recordings by, and songs about, thug “killas.” Hip Hop needed a breath of fresh air. Kryptic is that breath of fresh air. Conscious, melodic, and lyrically on point, Kryptic brings hope, education, love, humility and morality to the genre with full force, offering a “Retro-Modern” sound which is a culmination of perfectly blended old school styling with modern flavor. Constantly challenged by the musical negativity around them, the outside forces trying to pry them apart, as well as the obstacle of the Atlantic Ocean which separates them, the two have managed to release several well received albums over the past three years. Each release contained cult hits that have garnered respect and gained a fan base throughout the world. From the BBC’s 1xtra Homegrown Cutz where “State Of Mind” was broadcast all over Britain, to ukflowtv.com where “Be A Man About It” and “State Of Mind” were actually debuted to the world, Kryptic has also charted Top 10 songs on many well respected websites including fairtilizer.com (where the group reached 1 in Hip Hop), indiecharts.com, talenttrove.com, itbreaks.com and the-muzic.com. Kryptic, along with its record company, Winter In New England Music Limited, has plunged forward on the independent level, keeping the company solvent by releasing good music, embracing selectivity and always bringing Hip Hop’s “big beat” sound back to the fore. Kryptic will release “Worldwide International: The LP” in July of 2009 on Winter In New England Music Limited, distributed by SWI International. Plans are also in the works for tours that will bring the group to the United States, the UK and Canada.
