Paul Staunton – Song For Mike

Paul Staunton is a singer-song writer from Dublin. He is currently working on his debut solo album ‘Between You and Me’. Paul has been playing guitar since his early 20s and with his first band ‘Age’ he started writing songs.

When the band parted ways, Paul continued with his songwriting. He played various gigs with his father Joe Staunton, who is a well known musician in Ireland. He also co-produced and played on Mick Fitzgerald’s (ex-member of ‘Wild Geese’) albums.

Over the past few years Paul lived in Rome, Italy. Gigging with various bands, playing festivals and Irish weddings across Italy. Paul also ran a very popular open mic session every Thursday in a famous Irish pub in Rome called ‘The Fiddler’s Elbow’. This was a great way for him to experiment with his music with an international audience.

“The Open Mic night was a great place for ex-pats living in Rome, tourists and locals to sing and play within a no-pressure environment . It was a wonderful experience for me. I was always nervous about my voice. When in Rome I had a lot of encouragement from friends and strangers alike. The audience seemed to respond well to my songs”
