The Matinee Idylls were formed in 2008 after lead singer/songwriter Kevin Barry released his critically acclaimed solo debut album “Looking for Murphy”.
Kevin decided to form a band to compliment his music & what developed was a full 7 piece band, the live gigs & raw performances have entertained audiences all over Dublin & Ireland.

Prior to the formation of the Matinee Idylls lead singer songwriter Kevin Barry toured Australia in the late 1990’s with a band called “Be” who were signed to Sony records and recorded their third album whilst there. Kevin was born in London but at a young age moved to Co. Kerry then embarked on the singer songwriter journey that took him to Dublin 13 years ago; he has played such venues as The Sugar Club, Craw Daddy & Whelans Dublin.
