Described in Hot Press as a “Supreme performer”, Dublin singer-songwriter Fiach releases his debut album So I on 19 March 2010 on his own label Marcellla Records.

It will be preceded by the single “Every Single Day”. The album was recorded in Studio 2, Kinsealy and was produced by Keith Lawless and Fiach himself.

Fiach has, until now, been one the Irish music scene’s best kept secrets but is now ready to be launched into the hearts of music lovers the length and breadth of the country.

Fiach Moriarty is a 27 year old Dubliner, well respected and loved for his beautiful songwriting, exceptional voice and fantastic guitar playing and is fondly known as the ‘Hardest Working Artist in Ireland’, but it was his talent that found him sharing the stage with the cream of Irish and international artists such as Ray Davies, Eddi Reader, Mary Black, Damien Dempsey, Kila, Freddie White, Sinéad O’Connor, Damien Rice and Paddy Casey.

His concerts are where this young artist shines, always unpredictable, and always a very special event. Up to now, Fiach has been steady on the gig circuit, playing festivals in France, Holland, New York and Scotland as well as gracing every top venue in Ireland.

In June of last year Fiach performed and represented Ireland at the annual Celtic Languages Contest ‘NÛs ⁄r’ in Inverness singing an Irish version of his song ‘So I’ and came 1st in the jury vote. This brought him to the Netherlands in October to represent the Celtic Nations in the European Minority Languages Contest ‘Liet International’ where he came in a respectable 4th out of 12 acts.

Fiach has also appeared on the well-known Irish compilation cd’s CEOL ’07, ’08 and ’09 keeping in good company with artists such as Eddi Reader, Swell Season and Declan O’Rourke.

Keep a close eye on what the Dublin music scene has been quietly hiding and will soon be able to hide no more.

‘Flawlessly melodic yet imbued with an understated menace; Fiach’s slow-burning ballads probe the dark spaces at the edges of the singer-songwriter formula. He turns clichés on their head, investing familiar themes with a sense of creeping unease’ – Metro

“Instrumentally as well as vocally, So I is exceptionally resonant and richly textured, with strings bringing a sense of the sublime to several tracks. Wonderful” – Hot Press

“So I , a debut album of depth and courage, guile and wit.” – Irish Times

“If there’s one album you buy this week make it So I” – Mirror

Melding a powerful, soulful voice with folk guitar in the vein of Jeff Buckley, So I announces Fiach as a new force in Irish rock!” – Star Sunday

New Album ‘So I’ on release now

Tammy Ingram creates heartfelt indie-folk music, writing songs in the tradition of Feist, Joan As Policewoman, Beth Orton, Juana Molina and Emiliana Torrini. Exciting audiences with her passion and sincerity, Tammy plays with guitar, loop pedal and vocals to produce her own style of bitter sweet audio inspiration.

After growing up in a small country town in Australia, listening to Iggy Pop, Carole King and The Rolling Stones on vinyl (thanks to her older siblings), Ingram made her way to Sydney for the better part of her life. The singer/songwriter played in bands in Sydney, touring the east coast and now finds herself in European territory doing things in a solo capacity. After relocating to Berlin in June 2009, she found an amazing wealth of international musicians to be inspired by and a fellow Australian to record with.

2010 is being spent in Berlin, Germany recording with Australian Producer Tony Dupé (Holly Throsby, Jack Ladder, Jamie Hutchings) whilst playing shows throughout Germany. Rough mixes of Love War and Black Dog are fuelling a creative fire which will lead to a European release in 2010. It is the most considered and exciting of her releases to date.

2009 saw a breakthrough for Ingram in the European market with growing support in the media (Fritz Radio, Intro Magazine in Berlin) and audience growth after touring to Paris, Madrid, Copenhagen, Berlin, Hamburg & Magdeburg in only four short months.

Solo performances alongside independent and international touring artists such as Kate Miller-Heidke, Bernie Hayes, Leroy Lee, Marty Willson-Piper (The Church), Mark Wilkinson, Fergus Brown, Renny Field, Rob Longstaff and many more have seen an ever growing fan-base at home in Australia and abroad.

In their own words….

My name is Eimear Crehan, although I go by the stage name of Eimear Fox, or Fox.E. I am 29 and I have lived in Kildare for the past 10 years. I am a single parent to my wonderful little boy Jamie, who is 12 this year. I have been writing music for the past 12 years or more, but I have never really been in a position to get my music out there until now. I have over 30 finished songs (and many others that are half done!). I mainly play music with my sister Claire who is an amazing pianist. I also work with a drummer, bass player, guitarist and double bass player. The reason I am only getting out there now is because I have been working very hard over the past few years with raising my son and getting a masters degree in college. I have been studying in Maynooth University for the past 5 years – I did an undergrad in music, followed by a hdip in Youth and Community work, and am currently writing my thesis for my masters on the area of early school leaving in Ireland. I am also the director of both the NUI Maynooth Gospel Choir and the Maynooth Gospel Choir and these are both huge projects. The University choir has raised over 40,000e for local schools and organisations over the past few years under my direction, and the Maynooth Gospel Choir (a.k.a the Electric Gospel Choir) is on a national tour with Jack L until May, so as you can imagine things can get very busy. Other work I have been doing includes writing an original musical with young people in Kildare, this musical is called Proper Preggers and has just finished showing in Ireland and is going to Scotland in July. I also direct musicals and pantomimes in local schools and community projects.

Over the years the option to gig or really try and promote myself was not there as I have always been so busy with other projects and I have had to work as much as possible in order to support my son and support myself through college, however now I really feel that my time has come and it is time to get my music out there. In some ways I am glad that I have had a few extra years to really work on my style of singing as it really does have its own unique qualities that have taken a while to perfect. I often do small gigs for family and friends and regularly do spots in the college and around my area. I really enjoy this and I know that now I need to take it further. I am playing at a number of festivals this year and I am really hoping to get my music out there and really show people what I can do. Tour with Jack L has shown me that I am really ready to branch out on my own and put all my experience to good use!

I am often told that the experience of my music is one that is best seen live as it has a visual story-telling aspect to it. My music is soulful and jazzy, while being slightly cheeky and raunchy at the same time. The music is driven by piano and can have a cabaret style to it on occasion. My history in gospel music definitely comes across as I have quite a big voice, although the use of dynamics is of huge importance to my style of singing also. I would like to think that my songs tell a story that leave the audience entertained throughout – I feel my life experience comes across in my music.

Fiona Dunkin is a Dublin/Midlands based classically trained performer who specialises in blues/soul/folk. A student in Dublin, she first began to make her mark on the Dublin music scene in 2009. Since then she has played support to the likes of Juliet Turner, Noelie McDonnell, Luka Bloom and has provided backing vocals for a number of Dublin artists, including most recently The Spikes. Her most recent show was held in Bewley’s Cafe Theatre, with Galway based artist Emmet Scanlan and his band What the Good Thought. Having only just turned 20, she is hoping her unique style will carry her to further success in the music business.

The Juice are a three piece acoustic alternative band from Dublin. They are Andrew Dixon – Vocals, Niall Murphy – Guitars and Stuart Hennessy – Drums. They recorded their first album “Chasing The Comfort” in April 2007 in London with producer Lee Hirons. The album went on to sell over 1000 copies within its first six months of release. They then embarked on a mission to bring their live show to as many people as possible. Playing over one hundred gigs in 2008 alone.

In April 2009 they released their second album “Truth Lies In Music”. Again they travelled to London to record with Lee and to play some showcase gigs at the Troubador in Earls Court. The resulting twelve song album is currently on its second print and selling well both in cd and download format.

The Juice are a very pro active group having set up their own record label – Red Shed Records and building and equipping their own recording studio. The band are currently in residence in The Purty Kitchen, Temple Bar every Friday and in the last year have supported Damien Dempsey, Aslan and Noah and the Whale.

The Juice are now in pre production for their forthcoming album, due for release this summer.

Catapulted from years of abject obscurity in the Irish midlands, Adela and the Meanits are quickly gaining a reputation as “one of the best, quirky and most original acts to hit the Irish scene in years” (Stage Left)

Having recently played the world famous music and arts festival, Electric Picnic 09, Adela and the Meanits are set to release their debut album just in time for this years summer festivals.

After a chance encounter on a St Patrick’s Day float in Portlaoise, Adela met drummer Ros O’ Meara. Then a member of several bands, Ross introduced Adela to Barry Hayes, who in turn introduced everyone to John Davidson. Like peas in a far out pod…they became Adela and the Meanits.

Nominated as Best Female at the Balcony TV Awards 07, and hyped as the “new queen of the local indie scene” by Hot Press, Adela has also made a video ‘Party for Three’ with the New York Film University. The song has been described as “Sesame Street on craic” and as having “hit written all over it” according to John Creedon of RTE Radio 1.

Their music has been likened to Madness, Sultans of Ping and Lily Allen, but comparisons aside, Adela and the Meanits have an infectious, happy buzz in their sound.

In their own words….
“”The Right Now have set their soul to sizzle just-so on their debut album Carry Me Home. With powerful vocals from frontwoman Stefanie Berecz and more horns than Gabriel’s air cavalry, The Right Now are some serious soul cats.” -Nashville Scene

Home is the feeling that bubbles up irrepressibly inside of you when you arrive exactly where you belong. Coincidentally, the feeling that you get when you listen to The Right Now is awfully similar.

The Right Now plays soul music, and soul music is all about feeling; not style, not fashion, but emotion. The band’s new album Carry Me Home, set to be released on March 3, 2010, lives within the four walls erected by the arresting lead vocalist Stefanie Berecz, the stellar songcraft of Brendan O’Connell, the spot-on horns and layers of back-up vocals, and a solid bedrock of rhythm.

Stefanie Berecz’s voice is what takes the songs on Carry Me Home from infectious to revelatory. Nowhere is that more evident than on the album’s title track. Begun in a hushed, delicate tone, Berecz weaves a tender lullaby, gradually building in intensity but never mindlessly belting. The band matches her every step of the way. The Right Now is tighter than tight, at times functioning almost as a single instrument rather than a collection of players; never overplaying, always exerting effortless control over its dynamics.

This telepathic connection is the kind of chemistry that can only come from relentless gigging. The Right Now continually tours the country, converting listeners to a brand of R&B that is simultaneously classic and contemporary.

Case in point: “Ain’t Going Back.” Beginning with a deeply funky dialogue between two guitars that could have been on an early Parliament record, Berecz comes in with a blue note that is pure Chaka Khan. The restraint of the first verse gradually opens up into what can only be described as an anthem, with Berecz firmly in charge, giving back her wedding ring. The ingredients are classic. The result? Nothing but contemporary.

The music on Carry Me Home exudes confidence. One listen makes it clear that The Right Now is a band that knows exactly where its home is: onstage. Home is a feeling. And The Right Now brings that feeling to every show, in every venue, in every town they play. If you’re lucky, your town will be next.
