In their own words….

Conceived in early March 2010 and delivered after an extremely brief gestation period of 1 week, The Mozes were born!

Fusing elements of rock, funk and pop, The Mozes offer something completely unique to this country’s music scene.

The Mozes have been turning a lot of heads with their refreshingly simple take on funk/rock with renowned music heads commenting on the freshness of the sound and the tightness with which it is delivered. What is clear to see is that this Waterford foursome have thrown off the shackles that have held back so many Irish bands and navigated towards well crafted, to the point, interesting songs, steering well clear of the clouds of depression that tend to hover over bands from these shores.

Due to record their first EP and associated concept video this Summer and a number of high profile gigs lined up, things are looking very promising for the boys from the south east.

The Mozes are Kev Power (Vocals & Rhythm guitar), Alex Soikans (Lead Guitar), Adam Power (Bass Guitar & Backing Vocals) and Tony Browne (Drums).

In their own words….

Orna Lyons is singer/songwriter from North Dublin, who has recently established herself in the music industry. At just 20 years of age, she has spent her years growing up surrounded by music and developed the ability to sing at a very young age. Her talent refused to stop there, not only has she the skill required to play many instruments including the guitar and the fiddle, her song-writing which began at 10 has evoked onto a whole new level.

To expand her singing and songwriting skills, Orna practiced obsessively and to date has played venues such as Eamon Doran’s, The Bleeding Horse, The Slaughtered Lamb, Bewley’s on Grafton Street, Music Maker and PSLC live-room to name but a few. She has also appeared on the likes of Balcony TV and played at nights such as Zodiac Sessions. Setting up a MySpace was her way of introducing her music to the world, the response and feedback has been exceptional with some comparing her to the likes of Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell.

Her song writing has impressed many and she even appeared in the final of the well-known song writing contest “Under the Sun” held by Music Maker Dublin in 2009. With her name on everyone’s tongues it wasn’t a surprise when Orna was shortlisted for “Most Promising New Artist for 2010” in the Meteor Music Awards. Recently, Orna was chosen as Hotpress Magazine’s ‘Pick of the Fortnight’ and her music has been aired around radio stations nationwide.

In her music, you will find elements of folk, acoustic and soul but with a slightly alternative edge which comes from inspiration and musical tastes such as Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes and Coldplay. Similar to Dolores O Riordan, you never forget her Irish background as it shines through in her emotion-filled vocals which send shivers throughout.

We’re into all sorts of music, but play mostly blues based funky rock, with our own twist that we can’t really explain. Just listen to the songs!!

In their own words….

Well consider that in december ’08 four lads from two council estate in Navan co. Meath decided to record a demo just to show family and friends that after a year of practicing in a next door neighbours garage and writing songs about life in general this is the unique sound that the lads have come up with. With their catchy tunes and meaningful lyrics that tell you how it is in life, THE MYTH surprised themselves with what they heard. “RECESSION” and “TOP OF THE WORLD” were born and so too were THE MYTH.
BUT HOW GOOD WERE THE SONGS?
Well after recording the two songs the boys posted their demo cd’s off to TOMMY & HECTOR SHOW on I105-107 aswell as venues in co. Louth. Within two weeks the band got their first booking (sarsfields) in Drogheda but not just any booking the band was asked would they like to headline a show which already had three other acts who were well known around Drogheda. That night THE MYTH showed family and friends aswell as the general public just how catchy their songs were, THE MYTH had hit the ground running. By now most people in Navan knew what the songs “RECESSION” and “TOP OF THE WORLD” sounded like thanks to TOMMY & HECTOR playing their demo on national radio but THE MYTH had other gems up their sleeve, songs like “CITY FOR JUSTICE”, “DON’T CARE”, “ROCK N ROLL BABE” and so on. After that night the ball was rolling and the gigs started coming thick and fast another nite out in (mchughs) Drogheda a week later was quickly followed by nights out in (boyles) Slane, (de cellar rock bar) Balbriggan, and (the village) Dublin. Word started to spread that this new band is on scene with their brillant songs and their entertaining live shows. It spreaded so far that THE MYTH got a call from two DJ s (Bernard & Keith) from I105-107 who heard their songs and decided to interview the band live on national radio. The interview was a success and the band played one of their new songs “YOU & ME” which got a great response from the shows listeners.
After the live interview on national radio the Myth put their  interests into playing more gigs around the capital as the way leadsinger kenny put it “its the only place where you’re gonna get noticed” so the Myth went about getting gigs and played in venues such as “peadar kearneys”,”the mezz”,”eamon dorans” aswell as “the purty sessions”.Finally the Myth had got there chance to shine when they got to support a well know irish band called “Aslan” at a local venue in Kells co. Meath, this was the Myth’s first gig back home in co. Meath and with a strong crowd of 50 people that came to support the local lads aswell as seen the lengendry band “Aslan” the Myth star shined brightly that night and caught the eye of the promotor of the gig who said he would be very interested in helping the band in anyway he could as he put it “you’s have something there thats worth taking a chance on, keep in touch” since that night the Myth have supported Aslan on their uncased tour and recently found themselves playing with a well know band with a uk no.1 album to their name “The Christians”
HOW GOOD ARE THE MYTH?
Put it this way “If you listen to two sides of the one story you start to wonder who wrote history”. Really you just have to experience THE MYTH  live for yourself and go spread the word that you just might have seen the next best thing to come out of this country with music that could live the test of time.
So don’t comb your hair, get your rock n roll gear out of the wardrobe, and be prepared to be blown away cause there’s a good chance THE MYTH  are coming to a venue near you very soon. As Neil Young once sang “KEEP ON ROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD” YEAH BABY.
“So stick ur 2 fingers to the world and  shout it out loud “I JUST DON’T CARE” cause “YOU’RE JUST A ROCK N ROLL BABE” who knows that “LOVE IS REAL”  doomed by this “RECESSION”. “HEAVEN KNOWS” that its just “YOU & ME” that believes that “FAME IS NO GAME” but you just “CAN’T HELP THIS FEELING” knowing that im gonna “TAKE YOU HOME” to the “CITIES FOR JUSTICE”. so “WHAT IS IT?” am i trying to say i don’t know all i know is im feeling like im on “TOP OF THE WORLD” and your just “GETTING OLDER NOW”.(SONG HEADINGS FROM THE MYTH)
