In their own words….

Irish singer-songwriter Siobhan Day was born in Belfast into a musical family. Growing up she would be surrounded by a wide range of musical tastes from Irish Traditional to Guns ‘N’ Roses to Frankie Vali & The Four Seasons. At a very early age Siobhan learnt to play the keyboard and tin whistle, but she first picked up the guitar at the age of 13 which would be the beginnings of a very clear and exciting  path into music.

Having music as a way for Siobhan  to cope with events in her life  was a cathartic release; writing about love and loss, hope and growing up, memories and dreams. The music is a mixture of contemporary folk and acoustic rock, drawing influences from her childhood experience and her current musical tastes.

Siobhan has recently started gigging and is currently working on getting into the studio to record her first EP with a lot of positive interest in her work and exciting plans for the year ahead.

You can catch her live in coffee shops, singer-songwriter nights and even busking in and around Belfast city centre.

In their own words….

The Capitals are a 3 piece band from the Northside of Dublin. After practicing over some of the summer of 2008, the band gave it a break but now have decided to return with a new improved sound. With great charisma and connection between the band members,The Capitals are sure to be gigging properly over the summer of 2009. Living in the Howth and Sutton area of Dublin, the lads have spent the summer and most of the new year exporing and experimenting with new sounds and ideas. They listened to great old music from before their generation, people like Jimi Hendrix, Thin Lizzy, Joy Division, The Cure, The Clash and THe Velvet Underground. This mix of the old sounds along with new artist such as The Strokes, White Denim,Kings of Leon,Justice, White Lies and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This mix of old music and new music has made The Capitals sound very unique.

In their own words….

DHJ are a four piece alternative rock band from Co. Wexford, Ireland. Together since the beginning of 2009, the three founding members Bjorn Jenkins, Ryan Devereux & Eoghan Finn began to work on material together (much of which had been in the working for years) whilst seeking out a drummer. After lots of thought, ciggarettes & doubles, Stephen Murphy joined on drums and settled right away completing the outfit. Since the earliest jams and first few humble shows, DHJ have gone from strength to strength, with an ever growing number of people seeming to sit up and take notice wherever theres a DHJ show. Over the latter half of 2009, the band has played in venues the length and breadth of the country, as well as beginning the labourious process of recording their debut E.P in October. And took great joy from supporting and befriending Wallis Bird at a surprise gig in Wexford. With things looking bright for the band in 2010, an E.P release in the pipeline and being as hungry for live shows as ever, make sure you buzz along & catch a DHJ show when we play near you. Or I suppose, if you stay at home you might just feel the floor vibrate a bit.  DHJ are Bjorn Jenkins | Guitar & Vocals Ryan Devereux | Guitar & Vocals Eoghan Finn | Bass & Vocals Stephen Murphy | Drums. Debut E.P coming first Summer 2010.

In their own words….

Bright Kicks offer a refreshing blend of heavy indie rock with a funk twist. Boasting a live hard hitting sound melting pot of RHCP, Rage and Led Zeppelin, the band have been sharing stages with the like of sunshine underground, the music, bez (happy mondays) and neville staples (specials). Bright Kicks offer something refreshingly different mixing rock, funk, and nu- soul all wrapped up with a commercial pop sensibility
